03 / Applications

Engineered for mine tailings dams, dredging and corrosive water

Mine Tailings Dams

Stable, safe work surfaces across tailings ponds — replacing unstable catwalks and carrying pumps, penstock platforms and pipework.

Marine Dredging

The folding pivot walkway bends to follow the dredger. A 20,000 kg pull load on the dredging pivot keeps the structure intact.

04 / Walkway Designs

Three designs. One multi-configurable system.

Once assembled, Xrosswater walkways are immensely strong, lightweight and very durable. Standard walkways use aluminium frames, stainless steel fittings, FRP handrails and HMWPE floats.

FRP & Aluminium

Standard Design

Best value for money: strong, lightweight, clean lines and fully pre-drilled for fast assembly. Aluminium can be extruded anywhere in the world and keeps a recoverable re-melt value at end of life.

FRP & Stainless steel

Extreme Design

For extreme corrosion, extreme climate and high theft risk. FRP/GRP grating, 316 stainless brackets and fasteners — used for a 140 m gold mine project in Ghana and at Taseko’s Florence Copper mine, Arizona.

Folding High Buoyancy Pivot

Over 3 m wide when unfolded with double the buoyancy for pipes, cables and equipment. Folds to 2.5 m × 15 m to travel fully assembled on a normal flatbed truck. Each pivot section flexes ≈ 12°.

Platform configuration

The patented design is multi-configurable — whether the requirement is a walkway, pipe supports, pump platforms or a work platform.

Option 1

Delivered RTA

Ready To Assemble

All fittings and components packed in crates of 21 m × 1.5 m, with a jig and all specialised tools. Ideal for 200 m+ with a local assembly team. One 3 m section in ≈ 25 minutes.

  • 6 m container: 250 m
  • 12 m container: over 500 m

Option 2

Delivered Semi-Assembled

The most popular option

Sections and handrails are assembled and stacked inside the container. Two fitters attach handrails and join the walkway in ≈ 15 minutes.

  • 6 m container: 30–40 m
  • 12 m container: 72–96 m

Option 3

Delivered Fully Assembled

Handrails, LED lights, de-icers fitted

Best when site costs are high, climate is unfavourable and quick execution is required — typically the pivot (snake) walkway or the foldable heavy lift walkway.

08 / About Us

Our company, Xrosswater

Our history developed our product

The founder of our company accumulated more than 35 years of experience in the industrial marine market — from sailing yachts across oceans in the 80’s to commercial shipping, oil and gas platforms, marine engineering, high seas salvage, rescue, diving services, Antarctic expeditions and special military establishments in Europe and Africa.

Through this experience we identified a market need: a floating walkway system designed for industrial use, with industrial strength, that can be shipped anywhere in the world in component form — offering safe, stable work surfaces and eliminating very high shipping costs through clever design.

We are innovators, manufacturers and suppliers of high quality floating industrial structures, using material with unrivalled resistance to UV, petroleum, acids and alkaline.

09 / FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Q01What is the buoyancy of a 3 m × 1.5 m section?

Approx. 850 kg per section. When linked to the walkway at either end, buoyancy increases by approx. 25% to approx. 1,000 kg.

Q02What is the buoyancy of the 3 m × 3 m heavy lift walkway?

Approx. 1,750 kg per section.

Q03What temperature can the walkway operate in — are there test results?

The material can operate from minus 40 °C to +80 °C, confirmed by a MIL SPEC test certificate.

Q04What is the non-slip rating of the composite FRP woven deck?

Tested to DIN 51130:2004-06 — corrected total average acceptance angle 36.5°, rating group R 13.

Q05To what degree can the pivot walkway pivot?

The pivot walkway can pivot 10 degrees over a 360 degree circumference.

Q06Is the walkway unsinkable?

Yes, it can be made totally unsinkable. For environmental reasons we use HDPE cells — not polyethylene foam or polystyrene, which are not biodegradable or recyclable. All commercial walkways supplied to Canada are unsinkable as per Canadian law.
